Mark Carmack: A Servant of God

We write this today with heavy hearts. Our good friend and brother in Christ, Mark Carmack, went home to be with the Lord yesterday, Monday, October 22, 2012.

At the age of seven, Mark was saved at Vacation Bible School and was called into full-time vocational ministry at the age of twenty. Mark has been singing bass since the age of thirteen and has sung with many back-up vocal groups as well as singing with the group Forgiven, from Collierville First Baptist Church. Mark was also a member of that church for sixteen years.

Mark received a vocal performance degree from the University of Memphis and most recently served as Pastor at Peterson Lake Baptist Church in Collierville, TN. His ties to music led him to join groups like Forgiven and  Servants Heart. Mark's heart was to serve the Lord. He felt his call was to someday teach on the seminary level.

Mark suffered partial paraplegia from complications of an open heart surgery in 1998 and later diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.
We were just singing with Mark this past Saturday night, we knew he was dealing with a few issues, but never in our dreams did we know that God had other plans. You see, we all have been told one time or another that...we aren't promised a tomorrow. Well this is truly the case. Mark just told us this past Saturday night that we were like brothers to him, we were...and now we have a brother up in heaven helping to watch over us. Please remember Mark's family in your prayers! We also would like for you to keep Servants Heart in your prayers as well.

We know that Mark is up in Heaven singing bass for the Heavenly Choir and/or playing the piano!!!

Matthew 25:21 states:
Well done, good and faithful servant

  1. I had no idea he was even sick. I just sent him some birthday wishes last month and was really glad that I did because he seemed to enjoy the sentiment. I'm sorry that I didn't get to talk to him more.
